The Beautiful Island Called Flores. I was born and raised in Ende City, the capital of Ende District, on Flores Island. Flores Island, also called Nusa Bunga, is part of the administrative region of East Nusa Tenggara Province. This island offers so many and various tourist attractions, such as natural attractions, historical tours, cultural tourism, religion tourist attraction, culinary tours, and artificial tourist attractions. On Flores Island you will see harmony life across religions (Catholic, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist).

How to Get There?

Based on my personal observations and experiences, there are four choice entrances on Flores Island: Labuan Bajo City, Larantuka City, Maumere City, and Ende City. Your trip, your choise.

1. Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo, the capital of West Manggarai District, is the entrance to Flores Island from the West. There are two types of transportation that can be used: airplanes and ships. Besides enjoying tourist attractions in the city of Labuan Bajo and its surroundings, such as Komodo Island and Goa Batu Cermin, you can rent vehicles (four wheels and motorbikes) to go to the other districts.

2. Larantuka

Larantuka, the capital of East Flores District, is the East entrance to Flores. Generally, the transportation is only ships. Main tourist attraction on that city is Semana Santa (Easter, religion tourist attraction).

3. Maumere

This is one of big city on Flores Island. People called it MoF (Maumere of Flores), capital city of Sikka Regency. Sikka is the nearest district with East Flores. Same as Labuan Bajo, there are two types of transportation that can be used: airplanes and ships.

4. Ende

My city. Haha. Other big city besides Maumere. Ende located at the center of Flores Island, so it's easy for you to go East or West. The midpoint of Flores Island is in Ende District, precisely in Kilometer 17. Also there are two types of transportation that can be used: airplanes and ships.

About Transportation

All the transportation to Flores Island, both airplanes and ships is very easy and always on schedule. But sometimes not on schedule (delay), depending on the weather.

For local transportation, on the mainland of Flores Island, you can use the services of travel (car), bus, and motorcycle taxis. Most foreign tourists who come to Flores Island through Labuan Bajo will rent a motorbike to travel around Flores Island. From Labuan Bajo to Ende City, from Labuan Bajo to Riung, or from Labuan Bajo to Bajawa City. If they want to continue their journey to the East of Flores Island, they can use public transportation such as buses and travel cars.

About Food and Beverages

It's easy. Lodging such as hotels or motels must provide 'international' food including bread and coffee or tea for breakfast.

For lunch and dinner, depending on the choice of tourists, because the menus are definitely available in the menu list. but tourists can choose lunch and dinner at another restaurant, outside the inn.

Open Minded

Generally, Flores people are open minded. We have been awared of tourism world (and our assets). Both, individual and groups equally awared of tourist attractions. We do not judge tourists (domestic / foreign) who do what they want, but we must admonish politely. Despite being open-minded, there are cultures and customs that we must uphold as ancestral heritage and assets that cannot be exchanged for anything.
