The Gold and The Geautiful. That's the condition of hills around Mbay City, capital city of Nagekeo District, Flores Island, after attacked by Fire Nation. Haha. That was a joke from my friend Raiz Muhammad who I called one of the 'owner' of Mbay City. Another 'owner' is Novi Azizah. I'm sure everyone knows this American animated television series Avatar: The Legend of Aang (also known Avatar: The Last Airbender). That television series tells about four nations on earth: The Water Tribe, The Earth Kingdom, The Fire Nation, and The Air Nomads. Benders have the ability to control and manipulate the element from their nation. Only Avatar is the master of all four elements.
Another Story: The Beautiful Island Called Flores
Proud to know Raiz and Novi. Their both are enthusiastic, activits, and super creative young people from Mbay City. May God always gives health and goodness to both of them. I'm sure, there are still many things that they can do to their city. To a better way, of course.
Last Saturday, July 29, 2019, we meet-up at Novi's home in Mbay City after me and Anto Ngga'a documented activities of the Universitas Flores 'students in Ngegedhawe Village. It's a community service program from university. Ngegedhawe Village is part of Aesesa Sub-Distric. This village located on Trans Mbay - Aigela Street. It's about twelve kilometers before reaching Mbay City.
I've often written about the Mbay City and the Nagekeo District. Personal trip or work trip. Besides the flowers of gamal trees that make me feel like in Japan, and friendly citizens, the hills of savannahs in this young district also makes me feel so happy. It's difficult to express my feelings every time I see the hills or savannahs. Am I entering another world?
Picture above taken at February 2019, the hills look so charm with green grass. Beautiful scenery that tempt me to get off from bike for a moment to take a picture. There are three different colors that you can see when visiting Mbay City, depend on the season or month. Green at the beginning of the year, golden- yellow in the middle of the year, then there is a black color appears when the land is burned to make it more fertile.
The Gold and The Geautiful
That beautiful green turn to yellow-gold on that Saturday's trip.
Information from Novi, the hill we took pictures, is about three kilometers before entering Mbay City, named Roe Hill. All this time I just riding my bike through this road/hill and never though to stop even once. That Satudray, when Anto Ngga'a stopped there and climbed to the hill, I was worried. Can I? It turns out only one minute to climb that mini hill. Yeah, like Adele song: you'll never know if you never try to forget your past and simply be mine!
The view from the top of Roe Hill was so amazing! Rotating North, South, East, West: spectacular view! Landscape of Mbay City, highways that are like a river flowing with passing vehicles, to the hills across with yellow-golden color. It's a complete package. These yellow-golden color makes me named it The Gold and The Geautiful (Beautiful).
Lunch at Novi's Home
Thankyou Novi and Mom. Me, Anto Ngga'a, Thika, Juve (Anto's friend), and Raiz. lunch at Novi's home. Chit-chat, talk about many fest, plan to camp, and work at Novi's rice-field. Ah, sure ... I will come again and again to Nagekeo District.
Life is beautiful ... Raiz and Novi isn't just my friends but also my family!
Happy traveling!
